These people were part of a tourist attraction. Some of the people we passed by on the guided tour into the country side did not seem so pleased to be part of the attention of us tourists. The tour company did use some of the money made to assist with the building of schools and the purchase of supplies. Still it was a little disconcerting being taken to view people, some who live without electricity other than car batteries and others who cut a ton of sugar cane sometimes by hand for about $3.00 US.
